2018 Tri-M Induction Ceremony
What is Tri-M?
The Tri-M Music Honor Society is an international music honor society for high school students. Tri-M opens up a world of opportunities for students who have already shown themselves to be academically capable and musically gifted. Through performance and community service, members will develop confidence, creativity, critical thinking, compassion, and a host of other leadership skills sure to serve them well in school and beyond.
Created in 1952, the original Tri-M logo of the lyre and scroll represented the musical accomplishment and service of its members. The five lines of the music staff indicate the five criteria upon which members are selected: scholarship, character, cooperation, leadership, and service. The Tri-M logo has changed to 3 Ms that embody Tri-M members: "Modern Music Masters." Currently, there are over 1,950 chapters in the United States of America, involving more than 75,000 students. Tri-M members contribute more than 750,000 community service hours in their local communities. Tri-M is a program of the National Association for Music Education. |
